Case Study: Asphalt Reclamation – Western Hills Church of Christ Parking Lot
Project Overview Lithic Industries successfully reclaimed and stabilized a decades-old asphalt parking lot at Western Hills Church of Christ using T-PRO® polymer technology. Project Details The church required a cost-effective solution to rehabilitate their rear parking lot without the expense and disruption of full asphalt removal and replacement. T-PRO® was used to reclaim the existing asphalt in place, creating a strong, stable, and long-lasting parking surface using the on-site materials.
Challenges The project was executed during extremely cold weather, with low temperatures in the mid-20s and daytime highs only in the 40s. While cold temperatures do not reduce the final compressive strength of T-PRO®, they significantly slow the curing process. The infusion cure time had to be extended by several days to achieve proper stabilization. Mechanical sweeping was also required before applying the final seal coat, extending the total project timeline to two weeks.
The Lithic Solution Despite the adverse weather conditions, T-PRO® performed exceptionally well. The existing asphalt was milled, infused with T-PRO® at the optimal concentration, graded, compacted, and finished with a topical polymer seal coat.
