Project Overview Lithic Industries successfully treated a remote section of road in Northern British Columbia with a topical application of T-PRO® Polymer Seal Coat. Designed specifically for dust control and wear-course stabilization, this project delivered lasting performance where traditional methods had consistently fallen short.
Project Objectives The primary goals were to:
- Reduce fines migration from the compacted base
- Minimize maintenance and resurfacing required to repair potholes
- Decrease re-graveling caused by material loss
- Significantly lower fugitive dust emissions
The Challenge Previous maintenance practices relied on calcium chloride and magnesium chloride for surface stabilization and dust suppression. In Northern British Columbia’s wet climate, these water-soluble chlorides created serious problems: slick, slippery surfaces during rain, washout of fines, rutting, and accelerated loss of road material. The result was higher maintenance costs, frequent re-graveling, and ongoing safety and environmental concerns.
