Project Overview Lithic Industries engineered an unpaved emergency fire access road
using advanced polymer soil stabilization. The road was designed to support a fully
loaded 80,000 lb fire truck while blending seamlessly into the aesthetics of a premier
wedding venue.
Project Objectives The goal was to create a reliable, all-weather emergency access road
that met the regional fire department’s stringent load-bearing requirements without the
need for full asphalt or concrete paving. The solution combined native soil and imported
Class II base stabilized with polymer to deliver the necessary strength, durability, and
visual appeal.

The Challenge The venue required a safe emergency access route capable of supporting heavy fire apparatus while maintaining the natural beauty of the property. Traditional paved surfaces were cost-prohibitive and visually intrusive. Preliminary geotechnical testing showed that untreated native soil alone could not support the required loads.
The Polymer Soil Stabilization Solution Lithic Industries blended native soil with imported Class II base and infused it with a 0.75% polymer admix. The material was placed, moisture-conditioned, and compacted using standard road-building methods with proper drainage and surface finish. A topical polymer seal coat was then applied to lock in the surface and enhance durability.

•Remove loose material from the surface as needed


•Apply a light topical re-coat of polymer seal coat at 150 ft² per gallon
