Olmsted Driveway Stabilization California Hills | T-PRO®
Project Overview
Lithic Industries used T-PRO® polymer soil stabilization to create a durable 16,000 square foot private driveway at a family home in the California Hills. The project effectively eliminated fugitive dust from vehicular and foot traffic while building a long-lasting surface using existing on-site materials. The finished driveway measured 1,000 feet long by 16 feet wide at a 4-inch depth and required 1,100 gallons of polymer.
Project Objectives
The primary goal was to stabilize the existing California DOT base rock mixed with native limestone topsoil into a hard, dust-free surface that could handle regular traffic while remaining safe for the surrounding high-value landscaping and completing the work within a strict 3-day timeline.
The Challenge
The job site presented several constraints: limited workspace for mixing, only one entrance/exit, and a tight 3-day schedule. Mechanical issues arose during the project, along with unexpected damage to an electrical line. The surrounding landscaping was extensive and high-value, requiring extra care to ensure it remained completely undisturbed.
The Polymer Soil Stabilization Solution
Lithic Industries applied a targeted T-PRO® polymer soil stabilization approach using the existing in-situ materials. The base was treated with T-PRO® at a precisely calculated dilution rate based on aggregate density and in-situ moisture content. The project was completed efficiently over three days:
- Day 1: Surface preparation to 4-inch depth, polymer infusion, grading, and compaction
- Day 2: Application of the topical polymer seal coat to lock the aggregate matrix
- Day 3: Placement of a 2-inch decorative surface layer of ¾” black and white granite for a premium finish
