Project Overview
Lithic Industries delivered advanced polymer soil stabilization and fugitive dust control on a high-traffic unpaved haul road located directly adjacent to residential property. Using a proven topical polymer seal coat, the project successfully suppressed dust emissions while improving road performance and ride quality for heavy construction equipment.
Project Objectives
The primary goal was to reduce fugitive dust emissions impacting neighboring homes while enhancing overall haul road performance. The existing gravel surface, previously built with 4” minus crushed limestone, had become loose and dusty due to large surface particles and non-plastic fines migrating upward under heavy traffic.
The Challenge
Heavy equipment traffic on the untreated haul road continually generated significant airborne dust and surface degradation. The combination of coarse material on top and unstable fines below caused ongoing particle migration, poor ride quality, and frequent maintenance. - Grading the road to blend fines and incorporate larger material into the sub-base
- Moisture conditioning and full re-compaction using an 84” single-drum vibratory roller
- Application of a topical polymer seal coat to lock in migrating fines and create a harder, smoother wearing surface
